Christchurch Town Tour

On Thursday the 24th of November Team East went on a town tour in Christchurch. At school we planned where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see. Then we were put into groups relating on the things we wanted to do. In my group was Kate S, Milly, Annabelle, our leader Elizabeth, and I. We discussed the times and places and clarified everything. Then when Elizabeth arrived at camp she got given the time table sheets. We got transported into town and met by Hagley Park. Our group found Elizabeth and set off on our tour.

First we walked through Hagley Park and got to the Botanic Gardens. We wanted to look at the conservatory but it was closed because it was to early in the morning. So we went to the museum and looked at the Air New Zealand Exhibition. Everyone was very amused by the virtual reality. Our group designed our planes on the template shown in the exhibition. We also looked at things not in the exhibition, including the paua house.

Our next trip was to the Art Gallery. I was on a mission trying to find the oldest piece of artwork in the building. Elizabeth pointed out some very old paintings but the oldest I found was made in 1648. Our group was also very amused by the clip of the seal holding its breath for a very long time and then popping up and giving us all a fright.

We caught the tram and went to Margaret Mahy Playground. We had lots of fun burning off our energy and running round. I enjoyed going down the big blue tunnel slide and playing follow the leader around the playground.

We went to many other places too.

Over all my favorite thing was going to Margaret Mahy Playground and having lots of fun.

Omaka Scout Camp

On Tuesday the 22nd of November Team East went on camp to Omaka Scout Camp.
We arrived at beautiful grounds with lots of trees. There was a hall with a nice sunny deck. A river ran through the middle of the grounds with the sun gleaming down on it.
It's a great place for children to run around and have fun.

Omaka Scout Camp has great facilities, which include a large kitchen with gas appliances and 2 fridges plus freezes.

The bathroom includes new showers with hot running water, and toilet facilities.

The grounds have extensive gardens and would be a perfect venue for wedding parties, or just a family picnic. It has easy access from Christchurch Airport.

Should America ban guns

America should ban guns because too many innocent children and adults are being killed . USA and NZ gun laws are completely different.

This is one reason why America should ban guns. On January 22 2016, there was a 15 year old male who was shot in the leg and injured during a nighttime basketball game at Lawrence Central High School. On June the 8 2016 one student was killed and three other individuals were injured when gunfire erupted outside of the Jeremiah Burke High School following a fire alarm causing an evacuation of the school. Two suspects have been arrested.

Gun laws in the United States regulate the sale, possession, and use of firearms and ammunition. State laws (and the laws of Washington, D.C. and the U.S. territories) vary considerably, and are independent of existing federal firearms laws, although they are sometimes broader or more limited in scope than the federal laws. A minority of U.S. states have created assault weapon bans that are similar to the expired federal assault weapons ban.
